- When did you start and how was your journey?
I just got into it for fun and realized that fun was paying quite well.. started with small Radio Spots and theatre with Alyque Padamsee and debuted with India’s first musical play, Roshni.where I played the role of Mrs. Alice. Roshni was about Sharon’s life. It was an autobiographically musical. Then being in the click of Alyque and Sharon, got into the circuit and never looked back ever since.
- What are the skills and abilities that a person would need in this job to be successful?
DICTION. Good diction, precise stressmarkers, and confidence I guess that naturally comes through without having to dig for it.
- Tell us about your work credit.
You can hear me on Sony 24X7.
- What energizes and motivates you to do good work?
Good scripts. They bring out the best grain in my voice.
- Tell us about your dream project.
This is a dream being the voice for Sony. It is definitely a dream come true.
- Tell us some interesting incident/experience related to your work.
Well, one day I had come to do my usual tag lines and finished about 20 pages of my work and realized nothing had been recorded! There was some technical fault. I am sure I am going to remember that for a very very long time.
- What are your strengths as a performing talent?
People have told me that I identify with the audience. I also sing and perform on stage. So people have told me that they really feel I am a live wire. I can look into the eyes of my audience and immediately identify and emote to them.
- Your inspiration?
I guess the upbringing in school. The way grammar was taught in school at a real low level that’s very important and pivotal in this industry. If someone has the roots in them inborn, then it can definitely be developed at that very early stage. And if you have good teachers who teach you good grammar, good diction, stressmarkers even at those early stages and then you have Elocution Competition where you are given that push or support then that really helps because you are like wax at that time and you take in everything and then the imprint is there for good. So definitely, all those primary teachers
have been my inspiration.
- The industry yesterday, today and tomorrow?
Big, bigger, biggest. Its really growing by leaps and bounds. It was big and in a limited circuit earlier. However, its no more like that. Its growing and its just going to boom. HUGE!
- Advice to people aspiring to enter the field?
Welcome aboard.
- Your mantra to become successful as a performing talent?
I still have to be successful because you grow everyday. Even though I am here at this stage, as Robert Frost says “miles to go before I sleep”. Hang in there. There have been months when voice over artists have to just sit at home and sip their coffee. Yes there is a lot of work and just don’t get out of the loop. You have to stay in the loop its very important. Hang in there.
- Your hobbies?
I love to sing. I sing at daily mass every morning at six at St. Michael’s church, Mahim. I love to dance, perform and I love my work so its voice overs, voice overs and more voice overs.
- Two lines for Sugar Mediaz.
I am so glad that this initiative has been taken as we all had been waiting for a long time for something like this to happen in a place like Mumbai/India. Kudos to Sugar mediaz. Cheers!
